The Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District is located in the southern part of the Eastern Region.It shares boundaries with the West Akim Municipal to the west, the Akwapim North and New Juaben Municipal to the east, the Akwapim South District to the south and the East Akim Municipal to the north.

Agriculture is the foundation of the district economy and serves economically about 70% of the working population.Cocoa, oil palm, cassava and plantain are the major cash crops, while poultry is also picking in the district.
The district is noted for its vibrant commercial activities. There are seven main market centres in the district, including those at Suhum, Acheansa, Anum-Apapam, Dochiwah and Akorabo.
